Persian ERA 586 BCE vs 420 BCE

The dating of the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem, as well as the following exile and return of the Jews is one where there is a major discrepancy between the tradional Jewish sources and the secular sources. The issue is too complex to cover in one post, however I originally sent in a post to Avodah with a typed up abstract from Universal Jewish History Volume 1: Pgs 29 – 33 by Philip Biberfeld.
